Build an Unstoppable team

Don't let these stop you from building the strongest team

• They’re a waste of time - no, you’re building actual skills in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, empathy, emotional intelligence, and more while also building trust. Literally priceless. 
• They’re awkward - they get less awkward the more you do them (because you actually grow to enjoy spending time with your co-workers)
• We’re too busy for this - Taking 1-2 hours on one Friday a month is worth every penny (see point 1). You have time to do something once a month or once a quarter. They don’t always have to be a full day event. 
• It’s too expensive - This is just laziness. There are so many games and activities that you can create, in your office, with standard office supplies, that costs literally nothing but an hour or two. Be more creative. (or I can help you) 
• It won’t fix real problems - most of your problems are caused by a miscommunication or a lack of trust - team building solves both of those things because when there is an issue, no one is afraid to speak up because they know they’ll be supported and forgiven
• It’s not inclusive - then you’re not doing it right
• We’ve tried it before and it didn’t work - It’s not “hey everyone, we’re gonna try to have some fun and play this game today” No. it’s planning, it’s coordination, it’s internal marketing, it’s explaining the why
• It’s just a gimmick - your team hates you
• Not everyone will participate - you need to get them excited to participate. You need to market the event to them. Tell them why you’re doing it, tell them how it will help them, tell them why you’re spending time on it. 
• It’s only for extroverts - introverts and extroverts can get along just fine. You need to diversify your activities for both.
